The project started 1999 in San Francisco, California when I found pink boxes in thrift stores in the Mission District, the Latin neighborhood. Most of the things they content I also found in Chinese stores in the Mission or at the flee market at South Van Ness and Mission Street. More pink items I got in the kinky stores of the Castro, the gay quarter west of the Mission.
